"This is beautiful. What is that? Velvet?"

No this post isn't about the movie Coming to America, but during my little trip to the mall today, I noticed tons of velvet dresses, skirts and other unwanted valvety items tossed on the sale and clearance racks of many stores. I'm going to take a guess and say maybe the velvet trend wasn't taken too well or people simply were just unsure of how to wear the trend. Me, myself, I'm not really a fan of the velvet. It makes me feel like I'm wearing a human lint brush, but Glamour.com did give some tips on how to wear the fuzzy trend and I found one for each for a little inspiration.
  1. By adding just a little pitch with a velvet clutch, belt, or shoes.
  2. Keeping it simple with just a velvet blazer or dress.
  3. Be bold and dress it up with a pair of velvet pants.

So while it's on sale and the weather is still freezing, try warming up to some velvety softness, if you dare! Or... you can just wear some pieces from the Velvet by Graham & Spencer line. Here are some of their looks from the new Resort/Pre-Spring 2011 Collection. It's full of comfortable, easy, effortless, style minus all the fuzz.
