Stylist of the Month - March
Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Bridget Marowski and I am 22 years young. Recently, I graduated from college with a degree in Spanish Education. Throughout my entire life I have loved clothing and dressing up, but in college things took a turn toward a fashion frenzy. I became obsessed with fashion and style. I suddenly needed to have my hands on every fashion magazine and spend hours obsessing over what I and my friends were wearing. Recently, I enrolled in a Fashion Styling program. I am currently working toward my certificate and keeping my blog updated regularly. Besides fashion I love reading, cooking, and traveling. I live with my boyfriend, Michael, in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.
How would you describe your personal style?
I would say my personal style is very eclectic/eccentric. I tend to wear very vivid colors and prints and mix and match them with others. I very rarely wear jeans or pants. I live in leggings, tights, skirts, and dresses. I am a very savvy shopper often finding the dream piece for little to nothing. I am also a huge fan of the Goodwill and vintage stores. I am asked the most about my Goodwill pieces; they are great conversation starters. As for jewelry, you will often see me with kooky rings and other pieces, such as an airplane ring or a dead fish skeleton ring.
Where do you find your inspiration?
I find inspiration in what surrounds me. I love being in Philadelphia and New York to see great street style. For me it is real people that are the most inspirational. There are plenty of websites to view street style such as The Sartorialist, Garance Doré, and Face Hunter. I also find inspiration from nature, especially for colors and prints.
Where are your top 3 places to shop?
My top three places to shop are H&M, Zara, and Forever 21.
Who is your favorite fashion photographer?
I am head over heels for Scott Schuman, The Sartorialist. I love the way he photographs real people on the streets. Not only does he photograph fashionistas, but he also captures the spirits of many other people including construction workers, the elderly, and even Mennonite children from our own Pennsylvania. He finds beauty and intrigue all around him and is a true inspiration to someone like me.
What is your favorite color?
My favorite color is purple and lime green is a close second.
Where would you love to be your next travel destination?
I am just dying to go to London. I have been to Italy and Paris. I have studied abroad in Mexico. There is just something different about London; its style is so raw and edgy. I am hoping to take a trip there during the 2012 Olympic Games.
Do you collect anything special?
I collect vintage pieces, like furs and jewelry. I know fur is extremely controversial but I will admit that it is my vice. I have a few hats and capes and am looking to acquire more. I would never buy it brand new; I suppose that alleviates my guilt. I have a large collection of vintage jewelry from various stores and the collection of my mother who passed away in May of 2009. She was a beautiful woman with beautiful taste which I display proudly when I wear her jewelry. It’s like I keep a small piece of her with me at all times.
