Bring already familiar with Peter Som and his beautiful work as a fashion designer, I was so excited to find out that he was designing a collection for Kohl's Design Nation! I was even more excited when I found out that Mom Central Consulting invited me to a special blogger preview of the new collection at the Kohl's in Jersey City, NJ! During the event, we were given style challenges according to different themes like mixing and matching items from the Peter Som for Kohl's Collection with other pieces found in Kohl's, outfits you could wear to special occasions, and finding that perfect spring break style.
On the left, I used the Yarn Sweater with a black bondage skirt for a after-hours look. For the next look, I absolutely loved the Embroidered French Terry Sweatshirt on the right, so I match it with this fun pleated skirt.
For a easy going work look, I matched the Peter Som for Kohl's Printed Silk Charmeuse Tank with a pair of skinny black pants and simply accessories. On the right, I gave his Colorblock Flounce Hem Dress an Edgy Glam look by adding a moto jacket and pave chain linked jewelry.
It was great to be able to talk with the creator of these designs to learn more about the inspiration, which is the lovely, french influenced island of St. Barths, and the concept behind concern pieces. After creating our looks we could then exchange style tips with Peter Som, beauty and style expert, Mary Alice Stephenson and other bloggers. I really enjoyed how Peter Som was interested in each blogger and their finished look. We even stopped for a sec to take a quick "Ellen at the Oscars" style selfie! What I loved most about the collection is how versatile the pieces are. I have three dresses from the line and each one is carries a different personality. The printed shift dress can easily be paired with a blazer and worn to the office while the empire dress can be worn with flats for a Saturday brunch.
