To continue my quest to dine at places featured on the Food Network, we made a trip to The Pop Shop in Collingswood, NJ. It was featured on Throwdown with Bobby Flay and is famous for their grilled cheese sandwiches. They also have an amazing milkshake and malt selection for anyone with a sweet tooth. For my breakfast lovers, stop by anytime of the day and enjoy a monster sized breakfast menu.
They have a lot of fun, interesting creations like the Shakin Bacon milkshake! You may have noticed I have a thing for bacon (i.e. the bacon cupcake posted here), so I had to try it. It tasted just how it sounds, a vanilla milkshake with plenty bits of crunchy bacon. Not bad, but next time I'm going for something peanut buttery, my second favorite thing.
Hubby decided on one of their newest menu items, the Lobster Grilled Cheese made with lobster, brie cheese, and garlic aioli on sourdough bread with Pop Fries. I just had to steal some and it was de-lis! Believe me this pic doesn't do it justice.
I, on the other hand, wanted to try something featured on the show, so I ordered the 5B's! This is The Pop Shop's version of the grilled cheese
created by Food Network star Bobby Flay
during the grilled
cheese throw down. It contains Brie, goat cheese,
applewood smoked bacon and tomato
on country white bread with a side of Pop
fries. I'm a huge fan of cheese, and of course bacon, so this was a definite.
For all my parents out there, The Pop Shop doesn't slack on the kids menu. There's something for everyone including a "baby squirt menu" for babies that includes a list of healthy mashable foods. In fact, they do a great job making sure the kids have a good time while dining out. Our son was invited to help himself to the coloring books and crayons while waiting for the food to be served. There were also balloons and chef hats for the kids to decorate. Darius sometimes likes to play it safe, so he ordered the chicken fingers and fries. Needless to say, he was still very happy with his order.
If you're interested in stopping by The Pop Shop, they have two locations, one in Collingswood, NJ and one in Medford, NJ. They have a very active calendar with themed days and special announcements that you might want to review before you go. If you really want to plan ahead, you can even view the current menu on the website: ThePopShopUSA.com! If you've stopped by either Pop Shop location, let me know what you enjoyed in a comment below!
I loved The Pop Shop! I've only ventured there once, but your pics make me ready to go again :)
