Dari's Picks: Philly Science Fest #GetNerdyPHL

This past Sunday, we had the pleasure of experiencing a few of the events held during the Philadelphia Science Festival. Darius is really into Dinosaurs, so we drove down to Rowan University for the first Dig Day! The event was held at an actual fossil quarry where tons of prehistoric creatures lived around 65 million years ago.

Darius was beyond excited to dig and live the day like a paleontologist, which is what he whats to be when he grows up. By the end of our dig, we found a fossilized clam, fossilized wood, a Vivianite stone, and a Bryozoan colony. There were several Paleontologist there including Kenneth Lacovara (picture with Darius below) who were more than happy to interactive with everyone there and answer any questions we had.

Afterwards, we visited the Rowan Science Center for more S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities and fun. The kids were able to bring home experiments they made like snot, bouncy balls, and paper planes. The Philadelphia Science Festival has a great list of activities for all ages! Overall this was a great experience and hopefully next year, we'll be able to participate in even more events.
