Rittenhouse welcomes a new urban oasis and cocktail garden to the area appropriately named Walnut Garden. Located on 1708 Walnut Street, this is the former address of the McDonald's and Vans that was destroyed by fire during the events of civil unrest in 2020. With 11,500 square feet of space offering seating and a community space for up to 500 guests. This beautifully repurposed spot will be a popular one over the summer as a participant for Center City Sips.
"We're excited to bring Walnut Garden to life,” said FCM Hospitality Owner Avram Hornik. “This pop-up experience is not just another beer garden. It's a trendy and community friendly space that will embrace summer in Rittenhouse. It’s been fun to talk to neighbors who are equally as eager to see this space turned into something that will benefit this entire community at-large.”
Guest will also be able to enjoy lush landscaping, beautiful flowers, a children's playground, bench-style seating, two bars, and a soft serve ice cream station. At the bar, choose from selections like signature and draft cocktails ($11-$13), beers, seltzer and wines. There will be no need to leave for food as you'll find a kitchen serving Asian street food-inspired dishes like Korean Spicy BBQ Pork Sliders ($12) to Cold Sesame Udon Noodle Salads ($10) and more. Throughout the season, look out for activities like movie nights and family-friendly activities and, of course, rooting on your favorites sports teams.
Walnut Garden will be open seven days a week from noon to midnight and is walk-up only with first come, first served seating. Visit their website walnutphl.com and follow them on Instagram @walnutphl for more information.
